Description
Preston St. Has become a major route for parents dropping their kids off at the stop signs in the no parking area behind the elementary school. Kids that walk to school on Preston are in danger. There are speeding cars up and down this street with parents in a hurry to get to work. I suggest some speed bumps on Preston St. to slow traffic to a reasonable speed. It's a down hill slope and people get carried away while flooring it to the stop light. The question is, will the city do anything to protect its citizens? So far they have done nothing, will it continue?

City Engineer has reviewed the area and found adequate signs and speed humps in the vicinity of the school. Therefore, the speeding issue is an enforcement issue.
The Sheriff has been contacted to step up enforcement.

Good Morning Mr. Jones,
I have evaluated this area a few months ago and found adequate signs pertaining to the school zone on Brentwood Street as well as speed humps. Speed bumps do not currently exist as they are allowed only in parking lots and not on public streets.
I'd like to meet with you soon during drop-off and /or pick-up times to further evaluate and discuss options.
I had emailed you this morning and I look forward to your call.

I'll refer this matter again to the school Principal as well as law enforcement.
In the meantime, I'll be installing more speed limit signs in early January. The installation has already been scheduled.
